Redmi Note 8 Key Specifications Confirmed by Xiaomi When MediaTek confirmed that Xiaomi would be using the Helio G90T chipset on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, everyone expected that the Redmi Note 8 might arrive with the less powerful Helio G90 SoC. However, that isn’t the case as Qualcomm and Xiaomi both confirmed the Redmi Note 8 would be powered by the new Snapdragon 665 chipset. To recall, the predecessors of Redmi Note 8- the Note 7 and the Note 7S both arrived with Snapdragon 660 chipset on board, so no surprises on the processor aspect. Moving onto the cameras, Redmi officially confirmed the Note 8 would have quad rear camera setup similar to the Note 8 Pro, albeit for one major change. The Note 8 Pro will be the world’s first smartphone to ship with a 64MP quad-camera setup, whereas the Note 8 will feature a 48MP quad-camera setup on the back. We’re expecting Xiaomi to use the Sony IMX586 sensor on the Redmi Note 8. Instead, the company might make use of the Samsung GM2 sensor, which was unveiled alongside the Samsung GW1 64MP sensor earlier this year. That being said, this news is yet to be confirmed by Xiaomi. However, we believe that to cut the costs, Xiaomi will go with the next-generation 48MP sensor from Samsung. The other three sensors on both Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro would be- ultra-wide-angle lens, macro lens and depth sensor for adding bokeh effect to the images.
