Xiaomi Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite in the Works The three smartphones have been spotted with codenames – “pyxis,” “bamboo_sprout,” and “cosmos_sprout.” The report suggests that the “bamboo_sprout” and “cosmos_sprout” are most likely the Android One smartphones from Xiaomi. One of the most interesting bits about these spotted phones is that they are being tested with “fod” or fingerprint on display. Android One phones from Xiaomi are mid-rangers. Having said that it is possible that with the next generation Android One phones Xiaomi will finally introduce fingerprint sensor technology to the mid-range segment. Right now only the flagships from Xiaomi come with fingerprint sensor technology like Mi 9, Mi 9 Transparent Edition, among others. It is highly likely that the next Xiaomi Android One phones will come with optical under-display fingerprint sensors and not ultrasonic sensor. This is because to include an ultrasonic sensor Xiaomi will need to use OLED display which will increase the price of the phone, which Xiaomi may not opt for. The cheapest phone in India right now with an in-display fingerprint scanner is the Oppo K1 that’s priced at Rs 16,999. Xiaomi Mi A3 Might Also Offer a 32MP Selfie Camera The report further reveals that all the three phones will come with 32MP front-facing cameras similar to the Vivo V15 Pro that was launched last month. The Xiaomi phones are expected to use 4-in-1 pixel binning technology for the 32MP front camera. As of now, there is no information regarding the rear cameras of these listed Xiaomi phones. On the hardware front, the next-gen Android One phones from Xiaomi are expected to be powered by slightly powerful chipsets compared to the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite which arrived with Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 625, respectively. It is possible that Mi A3 will be powered by Snapdragon 675 or Snapdragon 710 chipset.
