Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), which is the leading representative body for the Indian telecommunications industry, has shown appreciation for the notification of the RoW Policy on Urban Municipal Corporation by the Government of Karnataka. The new bylaws will be applicable to all city areas, Municipal Councils, Town Municipal Councils, Town Panchayats and areas under the Jurisdiction of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The policy includes telecom towers as well as aerial and underground Optical Fibre Cable (OFC)....

The rising number of illegal repeaters and boosters in the country has forced the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) to order the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) a total ban on selling of signal repeaters and boosters, be it offline or online. COAI has asked DoT to pursue the issue with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to prohibit the import of illegal boosters in the country immediately. Furthermore, the DoT has been asked to beseech the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to issue suitable commands to state DGPs/CPs/chief secretaries to take action under the law against the sellers of illegal repeaters in the country....

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently came out with recommendations for the 5G spectrum auction. While some of the recommendations were good such as the easy payment terms, some didn’t go down well with the telco body, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). COAI believes the price cut recommended by TRAI is not sufficient, and the reserve price is still higher than what it should be. Through extensive global research, the industry had presented to TRAI in the consultation paper that a cut of 90% on the reserve price should be implemented....

After receiving a nod from the Union Cabinet, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Wednesday issued Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for the 5G spectrum auction 2022. The government will put the following spectrum bands for auctions – 600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2500 MHz, 300 MHz, and 26 GHz. The last date for submitting applications for the spectrum auction is July 8, 2022....

Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has taken out multiple illegal mobile signal repeaters across Delhi. This was possible due to the help of relevant authorities and mobile operators present in the city. Different locations of the city such as South Extension, East of Kailash, and Sant Nagar had both commercial and residential buildings operating active illegal mobile signal repeaters. After the search and scanning of the authorities came to rest, a total of 20 such illegal equipment were seized....
